Did you know? Only 50 percent of all the state destination marketing organizations have uploaded a video to Twitter, reports TwoSix Digital. That’s just one fact revealed by brand new research on each of the 50 state DMOs Twitter performance.
Each of the 50 states’ official tourism Twitter account was analyzed over a 7-day period in May and tweets were gathered over a 3-month period. Every account was evaluated based on a list of best (and worst) practices on Twitter.

Two new appointments to the Brand USA Board of Directors come from inside travel brand marketing suites. Alice Norsworthy, chief marketing officer, Universal Orlando Resort and executive vice president, international brand management, Universal Parks & Resorts will represent the attractions. Representing the airline sector, Thomas O’Toole, senior fellow and clinical professor of marketing at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, who was formerly senior vice president, chief marketing officer and president of MileagePlus at United Airlines.
Jake Buganski has been appointed executive director of the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism. He joins the office from the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau in the Finger Lakes, NY, where he served as president. Previously, he was executive director of Visit South Jersey for nearly a decade. Buganski replaces Grace Hanlon, who had served in the post for more than six years.
Marissa Conniff has joined Michigan-based TwoSix Digital as senior content marketing strategist, specializing in promoting the creative sector within the tourism industry. She has previously been with the Ypsilanti Area Convention and Visitors Bureau as director of marketing and communications and with Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau as social media manager.
Tia Troy moves to the Wyoming Office of Tourism as media & public relations manager from her previous eight-year role at Western Montana’s Glacier Country Tourism.
