California has regained its #1 position as the most-visited state tourism website in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to a study released by TwoSix Digital. The Golden State, most populous in the nation, had an average monthly total of 968,190 visits, followed by Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
West Virginia led in engagement calculated on a weighted scale based on the number of page visits, time on site and bounce rate. It was followed by Alaska, Wyoming, Tennessee, and Connecticut.
The state-by-state comparison results, which are provided via a third-party website analysis application called Similar Web, indicate:
- total traffic
- average monthly visits
- share of mobile vs. desktop
- pages per session
- average visit duration
- bounce rate
- inbound and outbound links
