William “Bill” D. Talbert III, CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau for more than three decades, indicates a plan to retire. Talbert will serve as a consultant to the bureau after a new leader is hired and before his contract expires in October 2022. He plans to “reboot” and start a branding company.
Bermuda Tourism Authority has announced the appointment of Charles H. Jeffers II, CDME as Chief Executive Officer. Jeffers, a Bermudian, joins from Visit Baltimore where he has been serving as COO since 2017. He has also served for 20-plus years in executive roles with Destinations International and Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Ingrid Reisman has been named Vice President of Marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. She comes to the post from the Las Vegas Monorail Company, where she was senior vice president-chief marketing officer for more than 15 years.
Kara Franker, senior vice president of marketing and communication for Visit Lauderdale, has been named as the next CEO of Visit Estes Park in Colorado. She starts in the position in early May.
West Virginia Tourism Commissioner Chelsea Ruby is set to become one of the state’s two new Cabinet-level secretaries. Gov. Jim Justice signed into law House Bill 2019, which elevates the West Virginia Office of Tourism and the West Virginia Development Office from agencies within the West Virginia Department of Commerce to distinct entities within the executive branch of state government to reflect the importance of economic development and of tourism programs and initiatives.
Downtown Memphis Commission has named Paul Young as president & CEO of the organization. Most recently, Young served as division director for the City of Memphis Division of Housing and Community Development, where he was responsible for guiding community and economic development projects and initiatives.
Dana Lancellotti has been named as the new president & CEO of New Jersey Restaurant & Hospitality Association (NJRHA). She comes to the post from her post as director of business development and tourism in Ocean County, New Jersey.
