The effort to achieve spic and span brings with it a new meaning to the word “touchpoint.” No longer only a marketing term to describe the user experience, “touchpoints” are now literally redefined as the places and things we touch most.
Marriott International has identified 12 high-touch points in the typical guest room, all requiring additional attention with the disinfectant. Door knobs, thermostats, TV remote control, clothing hangers, light switches…
American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has distributed Safe Stay guidelines. That’s a baseline.
“Leading hotel chains are practically falling over one another in an effort to demonstrate safe and clean initiatives that are developed in conjunction with top health organizations,” writes Jake Steinman, founder of TravelAbility Summit.
In an effort to gain consumer confidence, branded SUPER CLEAN partnerships have been formed between hotel brands and leading academic medical centers such as the Mayo Clinic and household name disinfectant cleaners such as Lysol.
