On January 31, 2022, the National Travel and Tourism Office at the Department of Commerce published a request for public input on the development of a new National Travel & Tourism Strategy.
The five-year strategy will focus solely on international visitation. The first National Travel & Tourism Strategy was developed in 2012 and revised in 2019.
The document asks for comments on the following topics:
- What can the Federal Government do to improve the competitive position of the United States and promote growth in international travel and tourism?
- How can the Federal Government partner with non-federal entities, including the private sector and state, local, and tribal governments, to improve the competitive position of the United States and promote growth in international travel and tourism? What entities would be the most appropriate
to partner with? - What metric(s) should be used to measure progress in meeting these goals?
The deadline for submitting comments is February 11, 2022. The notice from the National Travel & Tourism Office with links for submitting comment online can be found here.
