From Seoul, South Korea comes this week’s weird news. If you’re looking down at your phone while texting, putting yourself in danger of walking into a tree or not seeing a moving car, how are you going to spot these cautionary traffic signs?
Seoul isn’t the sole city looking for a “smombie” solution.
Augsburg, Germany has a more practical solution for downward-looking smombies — a (smartphone + zombies) — for people who text and walk. The Chinese city of Chongqing tried something similar, dividing the sidewalks with a separate lane for smombies. And in London in 2006, an early solution was to pad lampposts with spongy ads.
