Discover Puerto Rico
A new 109-page report from Discover Puerto Rico, the 2021-22 Strategic Marketing Business Plan, affirms that Puerto Rico is “poised for its strongest tourism results ever.” The DMO sets out a blueprint with the goal of helping stabilize the island’s economy through tourism and driving visitor-powered employment and revenue to new record highs while attracting a more “conscientious traveler” in the wake of Covid-19.
“Despite natural disasters and an unprecedented global pandemic, Puerto Rico has become a shining example of resiliency and recovery in tourism. And through innovation, collaboration, sound research and best-in-class marketing practices, our team has shined a light on the Island and its many attributes,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico. “As a result, tourism holds great promise for our Island, and we believe our best days lie ahead.”
Revenue per available room (RevPAR) in hotels set a new record in June at $216 — 145% higher than the U.S. average. Future booking data indicates levels well ahead of 2019 record-setting visitation pace through September.
Effective July 5 in Puerto Rico, masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated persons in private and public, indoor and outdoor spaces. All businesses including restaurants, theaters, malls, casinos, supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations may operate at full capacity.
