DigMe Summit, short for Digital Media, was conceived three years ago as an eTourism Summit spinoff focused on paid digital advertising within the wider travel supplier sphere (hotels, attractions, airlines, cruise lines), including DMOs.
However, in its first two years DigMe Summit primarily appealed to DMOs and attractions, who were aware of our “short session” format from eTourism Summit, now in its 17th year. So, to leverage the brand presence, it was decided to align the event more closely with eTS. Therefore, DigMe Summit will be known as eTourism Labs for 2017 and beyond.
Jake Steinman, founder of eTourism Summit and eTourism Labs, is tweaking his vision for the event, saying, “A deeper dive into specific topics is not something we can do at eTourism Summit, which requires us to update all 18 facets of digital marketing and feature what’s new and what’s worked for others. eTourism Labs will allow us to fully dedicate one day’s track to an in-depth session of one channel.”
He added, “In 2016, we offered a workshop certification in Facebook marketing. Next spring at eTourism Labs, one full-day track will focus on video as a tool for marketing tourism, while another will concentrate on content marketing and paid advertising programs. Training will always be on the agenda.”
Leave us your comments on the re-brand as we prepare a new website and social media presence. And let us know what you think of the new eTourism Labs logo. We hope to see you at eTourism Labs on March 14-15 in Philadelphia.
The 17th Annual eTourism Summit in San Francisco on Oct. 20-21, 2016 is now sold out and has set up a waiting list. Registration is open for eTourism Labs on the former DigMe ‘17 website.
