Visit Oakland welcomes Mark Everton as President & CEO following his appointment as the interim executive in that role after the departure of Alison Best. He brings 30 years of experience in hotel and hospitality management, most recently as area managing director at Commune Hotels & Resorts for their Silicon Valley and San Francisco hotels and as GM of the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland’s Jack London Square.
In sharing a note to guest Instagrammers, Rachel Hara, Social Media Manager at Visit Philly, has informed of her departure to join a Philadelphia-based digital marketing agency. Dana Schmidt continues as director of social media at Visit Philly.
Shawn Buckley has been named vice president of marketing, communications and tourism at the Albuquerque CVB. He joins the bureau from SkyTrail Sales & Marketing, where he served eight years. Prior to that, he was executive director of the Sheridan (Wyo.) Bureau of Travel & Tourism.
Long-time travel and tourism industry veteran 
has left his post as vice president, supplier relations for Egencia, the corporate travel arm of Expedia. Chris Vukelich joins Uplift, a Silicon Valley startup with a payment marketing platform aimed at enabling partners to promote preferred payment types and to expand co-branded cards, to increase its partner network. Prior to his tenure with Egencia, Vukelich held senior positions with travel industry leaders such as Travelport, Hilton International and British Airways.
