Have you seen the website: “There’s Nothing To Do in Salt Lake”? Launched in 2015 at ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) in Detroit, aimed at hosting ASAE in 2016, the CVB went bold with a website and video campaign.
Known for its (former) oddball drinking laws influenced by the Mormon Church, Salt Lake City wants people to know that things changed when the Winter Olympics came to town in 2002.
“We’re talking directly to the meeting planners who have the misperception that there’s nothing to do in Salt Lake,” says Eric Thompson, VP of marketing at Visit Salt Lake. “We’re hitting this head on and saying, actually, there’s a lot of fun things to do…if you haven’t been here for a long time, it’s a completely different place.”
